Laos implements the open-door policy and tourism is one of the priority sectors by law. Among tourism policy objectives in Laos are the following: develop and promote natural, cultural and historical tourism; promote tourism and tourism industry; provide new job occupations and create opportunities for the ethnic people to gain better incomes; enhance friendship and good cooperation with all nations; promote the arts, cultures, and fine and courageous traditions of Laos.

Laos International Border Check points for international visitors (by air and by land):
– 17 International border checkpoints;
– 13 International checkpoints provide visa on arrivals;
– 30 days Visa on arrival;
– Visa free agreements with 9 ASEAN countries;
– Visa exemption for South Korea; Japan, Russia; Switzerland, Luxemburg and Mongolia.

Entry points in Laos
Four International Airports: Wattay International Airport, Luang Prabang International Airport, Savannakhet International Airport, Pakse International Airport.

1. Wattay International Airport is the main entry point by air for international tourists.
Operating airlines: Thai Airways, Lao Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Air Asia, China Eastern Airlines and Bangkok Airways. Flights from Vientiane to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Seoul, Singapore, Guangzhou, Changsha and Busan.

2. Luang Prabang international Airport:
Regular flights are available from Luang Prabang toVientiane, Chieng Mai, Bankok, Hanoi, Jinghong, Chengdu, Siem Reap, Singapore and Incheon.

3. Savannakhet International Airport:
The only international flight on this route is from Savanakhet to Bangkok and vice versa operated by Lao Airlines.

4. Pakse international Airport
is stopover point from Vientiane to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Hochiminh and Bangkok. Lao Airlines flies from Pakse to Bangkok via Savannakhet.

Domestic airports in Laos:
Luangprabang, Phongsaly, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Huaphanh, Xiengkhouang, Attapeu, Champasak, Luang Namtha

By land international visitors can enter Laos from Thailand, China, Vietnam and Cambodia.
