The Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia has made the decision to postpone The ASEAN Tourism Forum 2021 (ATF 2021), originally scheduled from 17-23 January 2021, to January 2022.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia has been closely monitoring the situation, both global and regional.
With the evolving situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cambodia and countries worldwide are still imposing restrictions on large-scale events and travel.
Proceeding with ATF 2021 in this climate will be challenging as foreign delegations, media, sellers, buyers and trade visitors have expressed concerns about travelling. The Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia thus has made the decision to postpone ATF 2021 to January 2022 in view of these considerations.
Cambodia is located in the southern portion of the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia. Kingdom of Cambodia is bordered by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Capital and largest city is Phnom Penh, the political, economic and cultural centre of Cambodia. Official language and script: Khmer. Recognised languages: English and French.
Khmer Empire flourished for over 600 years, between 9th to 15th centuries, widely spread influence over much of Southeast Asia, accumulated immense political and religious power and great wealth.
During its golden era, Khmer Empire undertook many religious infrastructural projects. Construction of more than 1,000 big temples in Angkor alone is among them. The most famous is Angkor Wat is designated as a World Heritage Site.
ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a co-operative regional effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region as one tourist destination. This annual event involves all the tourism industry sectors of the 10 Member Nations of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam. Each year, the hosting of ATF is rotated among the Member Nations.
Brunei Darussalam hosted ATF 2020. The ATF 2020 saw 263 exhibitors, 160 international buyers and 109 domestic and international media. The Ministers expressed their appreciation to CNN International as the International Media Partner of ATF 2020. ATF 2022 will be hosted by Indonesia.
