Penang is one of the most popular tourist locations of Malaysia as well as international cruise destination.

Penang island is situated on the northwest side of the Peninsular Malaysia. The name “Penang” originates from the Malay name, which means “island of the areca nut palm”. For years Penang is referred to as ‘The Pearl of the Orient’.

Georgetown is the vibrant capital of Penang and located on the north-east corner of Penang Island. Georgetown was founded in 1786 and named after Britain’s King George III (1738-1820). Georgetown has been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of the many colorful historic buildings in the city center.

There are many world-class hotels and resorts at Penang, most are located in and around the city of Georgetown and around the Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah area.

Batu Ferringhi is one long stretch of hotels, resorts, residential areas along the seashore.

It has everything that tourists would expect from such a popular place: beautiful beaches and great food courts. For a lot of tourists the food and the cozy relaxing atmosphere is the main reason to come to Penang Island.
