Thailand: Chinese tourists arrivals reach record numbers


China remains Thailand’s leading source market in recent years. Also its fastest growing. In 2015, Thailand attracted 7.9 million Chinese visitors, generating over 376 billion Baht in revenue.

In 2016, TAT is projecting to welcome about 10.5 million Chinese visitors. For the firts six months of the year from January to July 2016, Chinese visitors to Thailand reached 5,764,839. Showing a year-on-year increase of 20.5%.

Prime Minister of Thailand General Prayut Chan-o-cha during his meeting with Mr. Xi Jin Ping, President of the People’s Republic of China, at the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit thanked the Chinese tourists for choosing Thailand as a holiday destination.
