Thailand: Wax Candle Procession Songkran

Kanchanaburi has its own distinctive Songkran traditions, the highlight of which is the spectacular beeswax candle procession and other activities that accord with the Buddhists’ belief of the locals.

The celebrations take place around Wat Nongprue in Kanchanaburi. Visitors will be able to take part in merit-making activities at the temple, the gentle pouring of water on local elders to show respect and to enjoy an exhibition that tells the story of the candle procession in Kanchanaburi. There will also be booths selling local products and tasty treats.
