For the last decades Vietnam became the second largest coffee exporter in the world, following only Brazil. Coffee is one of Vietnam’s most important agricultural exports. Vietnam exports 700 to 900 thousand tons annually. It is about 14% of world coffee market share. Vietnam is highly competitive as a coffee producer because of ideal climate and environmental conditions, low production costs, and yields among the highest in the world.
The biggest market for coffee beans from Vietnam is Germany. The United States is the second largest buyer of Vietnam’s green coffee after Germany. In Europe it last 2 years, Belgium is promising to become very important market for Vietnamese coffee, as only in the first half of 2014, exports to Belgium increased by 2.5 times in volume.
