Vietnam: international arrivals in 2018 reached 15 million

Total international arrivals to Vietnam in 12 months of 2018 reached 15,497,791 arrivals, increase 19.9% over the last year of 2017, according to statistics published by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

List of TOP10 international arrivals by nationality to Vietnam in December 2018 looks as follows:

1/ China: 405.573 visitors (increased 23.9%)
2/ Korea: 324.545 visitors (increased 44.3%)
3/ Japan: 70.711 visitors (increased 3.6%)
4/ Malaysia: 65.298 visitors (increased 12.4%)
5/ Taiwan: 64.365 visitors (increased 15.9%)
6/ USA: 54.891 visitors (increased 11.9%)
7/ Russia: 54.458 visitors (increased 5.7%)
8/ Thailand: 42,603 visitors (increased 15.8%)
9/ Singapore: 37.689 visitors (increased 3.1%)
10/ Australia: 31.009 visitors (increased 4.5%)

Total number of visitors to Vietnam in 2018 from Asia countries over 12 million arrivals, increased 23.7% over the same period last year. TOP3 nationals from Asia visiting Vietnam in 2018 are traditionally China (4.9 million arrivals), Korea (3.4 million arrivals), Japan (826.674 arrivals). International guests from Europe reached 2 million arrivals, increased 10.6%, comparing to year 2017.

In mid of January 2019 Vietnam hosted ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2019), one of the biggest travel mart in the region in Halong Bay. Host destination Vietnam was proud to spotlight more than 70 of its best travel industry players at this year’s exhibition. The appeal of ASEAN destinations is stronger than it has ever been, drawing the interest of global buyers from 53 countries including Australia, Azerbaijan, China PR, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Poland and Russia. Next ATF 2020 will be hosted by Brunei Darussalam.
